Fun day

"makin' something. Workin' on it."

Little monkey bones wouldn't let me take a picture of his crash and burn nose. He said, "take a picture of my back!"

"talking' on shone. Want ghetti."

You want spaghetti?

"mmmHHMMM!! YIKE shaghetti!"

Last night Cohen was very restless in bed from about 4:15 to 5:40 am. I'm not gonna lie, I was annoyed and achy and just wanted to sleep but it's kinda hard when there's a 35 pound flopping two year old lying next to you. Then it dawned on me to check his diaper... And it was dry! I had put it on him around 8:00 so that was almost 10 hours of dryness! I was amazed, and then proceeded to ask him of he wanted to go peepee. He nodded and said, "peeeeassse?!?" So to the potty we went and he even commented, "big peepee!" and gave himself our customary Yay! Potty cheer and song. Then back to bed and he was out like a light. He slept till 9ish and woke up dry then too! :)

Last night Cohen was taking my order, "Want, Mama?" and insisting I "eat" chicken and French fries and ketchup and a hamburger and blackberries and ... Ha! I told him I was full full and he told me I wasn't and continued to feed me things. 'tis life with Cohen.

Ribbon on a stick

We disassembled a $1 kite we bought from Target and turned it into a "ribbon dancer". (remember those?!)

Cohen had so much fun with this thing.

(please excuse the spaghetti sauce on his undies... We just ate lunch.)

Potty learning

Well, I think we are well on our way to potty learning. It's not training, my child is not an animal nor do I want him to use the potty because I said so. Just like anything else, it's a process and I'm here to be his teacher, his guide.
For months now he's been using the potty, but with no urgency to get out of diapers. I've been feeling lately like he's more ready, so he and I went pick out some undies for him. He was super excited about this, and we probably ended up with more undies than needed. Ah well, I wasn't going to squash that enthusiasm.
We call them comfy undies. I've never really cared for using the term "big boy" (or good job for that matter but that's another post), and even when Scott or I would say big boy, Cohen would just say, "No, I a kitty cat." Hah! So, comfy it is, and comfy is good. He likes wearing them, and would prefer that to a diaper now. Sure, he has accidents now and then, but that's totally to be expected since he's been potting on himself for the past two years.
Now, he'll start to pee, and realize it, then he'll stop and alert me some sort of way and we will make a mad dash to a potty. Usually he'll say "clean it" or "yucky?", then I'll notice and we will go potty and then clean up the accident site. No pressure, no shaming. Only positive and encouragement.

Undies are a million times cuter than diapers anyway. So bittersweet. I'm loving my growing boy and already missing the babe he was just a few months ago even. Such is life I suppose. Just gotta savor every moment. Every night spent rocking a fussy babe. Every nursing session. Every cuddle. Every mad search for the lost noonie in the middle of the night. Every diaper change.

"Dat's mine helmet!! Ridin' my skateboard, Mama!!"

My little chatterbox and other ramblings

Cohen is talking so well these days.  And everyday he surprises me with the things he knows and his logic/reasoning skills.

Just tonight while lying in bed he counted, "one, two, shee, eight, nine, ten, eyeven, tweyve, shirteen, shorteen." Umm, what?  He won't ever count on command for me (which is fine, I don't really care to quiz him like that) so I was every surprised he knew all those in order.  I know he knows four, five, six, and seven as well; he just likes to skip those.

On Thursday we were visiting with Granny at the apartment when UPS came to our house.  I told him we needed to go walk home to get our package, and he proceeded to look around and ask, "where's the mailbox at, Mama?"

I wonder how Cody is gonna be.  How alike/different he'll be from Cohen.  Will our boys look the same, act the same, nurse the same?  How will labor and delivery be?  What about those early weeks both for me and babe... how will they compare?  This one has surely been different already from Cohen.  Cohen seems to "get it" that Codybug is his baby brother in Mama's be-yey, but I wonder how he'll be once Cody is born.  Only about 3 more months left.  Ahh, my sweet boys.  Forever changing me.  :)
