They've taken my memory, so I blog to remember the good and the bad, but mostly the good. :)

Tuesday Tidbit
We went to the aquarium today. It was loads of fun. We walked around the riverwalk too. I like New Orleans and am glad we live close enough to go do things like that.

Sooo....
We should have a slab TOMORROW! This is going fast! The framers are scheduled to start framing on the 3rd. And it should only take them about a week. That's crazy fast. I think wiring comes after that but I'm not really sure.

Tuesday Tidbit
Whew, I barely got this one in on time. ;)
I like to cook, but nothing that requires sticking to a strict recipe. I like to sew, but I don't use patterns. I call this "freestyling." I don't do well with having to be super precise - not because I can't, but because if I start down that path, it will have to be EXACTLY PRECISELY PERFECT. So, I'd rather not go down that path.
And besides, why color in the lines when you can draw your own picture?

Christmas...
is this week! I can't wait for Cohen to open his presents! He's gonna love them! It's going to be busy for a few days with going visit everyone and all of the Christmas activities going on.
On to other things...
The house is coming along well. It still seems a bit surreal that we are going to have our own house. A house. For us. Life is good.
We have decided to look for a new home for Ro and the kitties. It's going to be so hard to say goodbye, but it really is for the best. I don't really want to "talk" any more about that right now though.
I miss Jenny and Emmy and hope we get to see them soon!

House progress and stuff
Well, after loads and loads of dirt and then lots of rearranging of said dirt, the footings are being dug. Then plumber/sand and then concrete! Maybe we will have a slab this year after all!
Last night was Victoria's Christmas play at Nicholls. It was for 6:00 and I was very nervous about being out late and then the drive home. Cohen did fantastically well! We even went eat in thibodaux and didn't get home till about 8:30. He just started to protest right before we got home. I'm so proud of this accomplishment! Not so much him but me and stepping out of my comfort zone and things going so well! :)

House Progress
Scott seems to think we'll be in or almost in the house by Easter. While that would be great, I just don't see that happening. What I see are big piles of dirt, some wood in the shape of our foundation, a port o potty, and no workers.
I took some more photos, now I just have to load them on here. I want to take a bunch and make a stop animation movie of the house going up. How cool would that be?!
I hope we really like our house. I hope we don't have major regrets for putting in so many rooms and thus they are small rooms. I hope it's pretty. I hope it fits our family well.

Tuesday Tidbit
I'm trying out something new... on Tuesdays (when I remember), I'm going to post a tidbit about myself. So, here goes.
I like challenges, but only ones I know I can come out victorious. As soon as I even *think* I may not be able to do it, I give in, give up, cave, get scared, start sweating, doubt myself. I am so afraid of failure that if I think it's imminent, I'd rather not even try. Can't fail if you didn't try, right? Well, that in and of itself is failing, but my warped brain doesn't see it that way.
This all stems from my being told I'm so smart, so awesome, so perfect all.the.time growing up. Yes, tell me those things when appropriate, but not because I drew a straight line. Not because I blinked. Tell me "I'm so proud of your motivation, I can see the effort you're putting in is really paying off" not "You're so smart and perfect I knew you could do it." Encourage the effort. Praise becomes meaningless if it's given out at every turn and corner and straight and nook and cranny. If everything is awesome, wonderful, amazing, beautiful, then really everything is the same and average and nothing is then truly awesome, wonderful, amazing, beautiful.
On the other hand, don't give out none at all. I see that with Scott. He didn't get hardly any of that type of praise growing up. I bet that's why we fit so well. We come from such opposites. Hopefully he and I can create a happy balance together. I think so.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that
I'm soo soo soo soo happy we got the permit! Scott and I picked out and bought most of the lights for the house. A little premature, yes, but we were so excited we couldn't wait. So now we have a large pile of lights and fans taking up space in our already cluttered apartment. :P
Today the area where our house will be is supposed to be bulldozed. The grass needs to be removed so there's as little "organic matter" as possible to keep from decomposing and settling and causing problems. I'll take pictures once this actually happens. After that, well, I'm not exactly sure what's next but I do know the plumber has to come out and run lines and the electrician maybe and then the framing for the foundation will happen! It's so exciting and I couldn't feel more thankful or blessed.
Cohen got his first major bump yesterday. =( I cried a little. He was crawling on our bed and I was right there knealing next to the bed and he started going for my night stand. I went to grab him to stop him, and he LUNGED. And hit his forehead on the edge of it. He only cried for maybe 15 seconds, but I felt TERRIBLE. It's still a little swollen and bruised today. One of many to come, unfortunately. Especially if he's anything like me.
Okay, well this is warning that I will be having a major pet vent shortly. Not now, but shortly.
