May 31st

Such a lovely sight to wake up to!  Scott is cutting the grass today.  I'm cooking a beef stew.  I know, I know, it's a cold weather meal, but we wanted some and will actually eat leftover beef stew, so there!  :D  Scott grilled last night for me, Ang, and Kelly.  It was good food and a good visit.  I think we should make it a normal occurrence to grill on Sundays.

I had a shirt when I was little that had a hippo on it and said "I'm hippy"...  I wonder if we have a picture of me in that shirt.

The House Serenades Me

As I was taking a bath last night, the house decided to serenade me.
It set the lighting to a much more romantic level by shutting off the light above the tub.
No, the bulb isn't burnt, it just sometimes stops working.
Oh, and the clothes drier wooed me with its song reminiscent to dying mice.
How thoughtful of this place!

Queen of the Blahs

It's Saturday.
Officially the second Saturday Scott has off!
And what are we doing you ask?
I'm sitting here typing this with Cohen asleep on me and Scott is sleeping on his recliner, open mouth and all.  Is this what I want to be doing today?
Not particularly.
It's been the game of "What do you wanna do?"  "I don't know, what do YOU wanna do?"
*sigh*
I tried to start cleaning/organizing the house a bit starting w/ the laundry room, but Cohen was uninterested in sitting alone in his bouncer for very long and wanted to be entertained again.  I can't blame him... heck, I wanna be entertained too!  Haha.  And I love when he's awake observing and learning about his world and interacting with me.  So, alas, Cohen's sleeping once more, and I'm back on this recliner doing what I do all.the.time.
Oh well.

Here's to having Saturdays off.

Snoozing on Daddy for lunch at Road Hog.

Play time with Momma.  Hard to believe he's already 9 weeks old!  He absolutely loves his play mat!

I went to visit Tasha for 1.5-2 hours his afternoon... only less than 10 minutes away. In this time, it thundered once and maybe rumbled another one or two times. not a drop of rain. not one. I got home and couldn't get in.  So I go through the back door. The dog had locked both locks on the door. knocked the trash over. tore to shreds a bag of stuff hung by the door. pulled the baby swing to the middle of the living room. knocked the hamper over in the bathroom and had towels everywhere. pulled the mop and bucket over in the laundry room. really? REALLY?!?

I knew I should have plywood/nut&bolted him in the kennel before I left.

What a big boy!

Cohen's first time in his Bumbo!  He still gets tired quickly holding up that heavy head so he'll enjoy this more in a couple more weeks!  i just looove that outfit too!  Thanks Nana!
I  see you lookin' at me!

Well the wedding was a success last night!  We didn't stay too long though.  It was nice getting out and about yesterday, but I'm definitely not used to doing that yet!  I was exhausted last night.  I'm nice and recharged this morning though!  We plan on visiting w/ my parents later today, and hopefully cleaning up a little around here!  Ohhh, the clutter!  Well, that's all I've got for now... I never claimed this would be an exciting blog to read.  ;~)

Lazy Saturday

Today feels like a Sunday... Scott is now off on Saturdays!!  WooHoo!  We went to Target earlier and I'm not kidding you when I say there was a baby in every buggy!  I guess maybe it's one of those "you don't notice until ya got one" kind of things.  Haha.

We ate at Chic-Fil-A for lunch and Cohen fell asleep in his car seat while we were there!  I must say it was sort of bittersweet... I'm so happy that he feels like sleep is a safe place to be, but it's already one little step away from needing his momma.  I better get used to it, huh?

Anyway, we're just gonna relax at the house till this evening.  We have a wedding to go to tonight.  Hopefully Cohen's not gonna be that stereotypical baby crying during the ceremony!  :D

he was just fascinated with my phone!

The basics of my budding family!

So most of you reading this probably already know me, but for those of you who don't, here's a short history of me and the fam!

I'm 24 years old.  I graduated high school top valedictorian in 2004 out of a class of 262.  I started at the local university right out of high school in art.  My plan was always to get my masters in art therapy after I got my bachelor's, but life happened while I was off making plans!  :)  (Maybe someday I'll go get that degree!) I met Scott two days before Christmas 2005, and he just stuck!  We got engaged right before the next Christmas and married in October of 2007.  We took our honeymoon in Hawaii, and it was by far the best vacation I've ever taken!  I graduated magna cum laude in December of 2008 in art w/ a concentration in photography.  (Of course the semester after I left, the department gets approved to have a BFA (bachelor of fine arts) and not just a BA program.  And of course I would have already had everything needed to get that F in my BA... haha!  The one time I actually want an F!)  Oh well, I've done lots with that degree anyway as a stay at home mom!  :P
January 2009 I started working as a veterinary technician and absolutely loved it!  I loved the ladies I worked with and I loved what I did.  I worked there until July, when I found out I was pregnant.  I quit b/c of all the dangers of working there... I did x-rays, then there's al the surgery preps w/ the anesthesia, we treated some HUGE dogs and also the police dogs so physical injury was also a threat, and of course the possibility of toxoplasmosis from litterboxes.  It wasn't a tough decision to leave, but I sure do miss it sometimes.

Scott was also attending the local university when we met, but soon switched to the community college and got a degree in automotive mechanics.  He has since been taking the ASE certification exams and has passed all but two, and hopefully passed those last two too!  We're waiting on the results now.

Anyway, I had a fairly easy pregnancy.  I never had morning sickness or other complications really, and I only gained about 30-35 pounds.  (And it's all come off and more with breastfeeding!) Cohen was born on March 24th weighing 8 pounds 14 ounces and was 20 inches long.  I was induced, but otherwise had him naturally!  And that was one the most amazing thing I've ever done!  He is now eight weeks old and thriving on Mama's milk.  I love breastfeeding and hope to open up that possibility to all the pregnant ladies around me currently.  (So if you have questions/need advice or are just curious, feel free to talk to me!)

I enjoy my family's company (in-laws included!), and sometimes wish all my aunts lived closer so we could have more weekend get-togethers with everyone like I remember doing growing up.  Both my parents and Scott's parents are still happily married, and I'm very thankful for that.   I have a brother named Gary and he and his wife Heather have twin 7 year old girls!  I just love PJ and Emmie!  I also have a sister-in-law named Angela and she and her husband Kelly have Victoria(8) and Logan(3.5) who I also love soo much!  (Logan thought I had "swallowed" baby Cohen while I was pregnant. haha!!)

Well, I suppose if you're still reading you've noticed my love for !! at the end of most sentences.  I have a problem with doing that!  Now I've rambled enough and need to get up and go stir the spaghetti we're having for supper.  And it's almost 11 and Scott will starve if I don't leave soon to bring him some lunch!

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Day One!

I've been meaning to do this for a while now.  Start a blog that is.  I don't know why I've been putting it off.  I'm home all day.  Usually with laptop nearby all day.  I'm sure that'll change as Cohen starts being awake more and becomes more active.   I don't have much else to say right now.  I suppose maybe later on today I'll post a little bio of us... and introduction of sorts.  But the babe needs a diaper change and we need to head off to Rouses to get the missing ingredients for a wonderful spaghetti!  So we must be on our way for now.
